Airport to become a performing space
26.09.07
Bristol Airport is supporting local events, musicians and artists and entertaining its passengers by allowing people to perform in its terminal. The airports 'Sense of Place' scheme, launched earlier this year, offers a platform for local groups, entertainers and artists to show off their talent and get their name known in front of a huge captive audience.
Events held at the airport so far have been diverse, including live performances from Kingswood's Ten Sing Youth Performance Group, a number of art exhibitions, a motorbike display and demonstration and a number of food tastings including cheese and cider.
Jacqui Mills, Customer Experience Manager at Bristol Airport, said: 'For local groups, individuals or organisations we offer the chance to get in front of thousands of passengers and for customer's travelling via Bristol International we are providing an alternative travel experience.'
'Airports are often perceived as clinical spaces that look the same the world over. We can provide a great first impression of the South West and introduce them to some of the best new talent around.'
Entertainers, musicians and artists can find more information and download an application form via the airport's website (www.bristolairport.co.uk/senseofplace).
