21.01.08
Passengers were up 9.3% in December compared to the same month in 2006 to 403,000. Total passenger traffic in 2007 was 3.1% higher than in 2006 at 5.84m.
December's domestic passengers were 11.3% lower than a year earlier at 93,000 due to the cessation of BA Connect's services, but international traffic was up by 23.1% to 260,000 as a result of additional low-cost capacity and the opening of the new Ryanair base at the airport in November. Charter traffic was 5.2% lower at 50,000 passengers as a result of a reduction in capacity following consolidation in the UK inclusive tour sector.
In the year to the end of December domestic passengers were down 9.6% to 1.27m, International passengers up 11.4% to 3.23m and charter passengers down 1.4% to 1.35m. Overall passengers were up 3.1% to 5.84m.
