South west air travellers urged to use Bristol

Holidaymakers in the south-west are being urged to use Bristol Airport rather than travelling to one of the bigger hubs near London, or in Birmingham and Manchester. A spokesman said that the airport offers transatlantic flights as well as an increasing number of routes to continental Europe, and that it wants to be residents from the south west's airport of choice.
Tony Hallwood, development director at Bristol Airport, said that those who want to travel to New York and other destinations in the US in particular should consider flying from Bristol, as its daily service by Continental Airlines makes the Big Apple 'convenient and affordable'. The US airline also offers direct connections to more than 140 destinations in the USA, Canada and South America from its New York hub.
Other airlines that fly from Bristol Airport include European giants Air France and KLM to Paris and Amsterdam, plus low cost giants easyJet and Ryanair to a growing roster of European routes. Ryanair announced 3 new French routes just last week.
7 million people live within a 2 hour drive of the airport, and Mr. Hallwood added: 'Our message to those travellers still making road or rail journeys to airports in the south-east in order to travel is simple - choose Bristol Airport and we guarantee a speedier, less stressful and more environmentally-friendly journey.'
