Work to start on airport upgrade
04.11.07
Work on a £7.5m scheme to update facilities at Bristol Airport is to start this week. The project includes an extension to the security search area that will increase passenger numbers passing through at peak times.
A spokesman for the airport said: 'The creation of more space in the security search area follows the introduction of additional security measures at every UK airport. As an interim measure, an extra x-ray machine is in operation, but this is not a long term solution.'
Paul Kehoe, the recently appointed CEO of Bristol Airport, added: 'The scale of this new investment shows our determination to provide best-in-class airport facilities for the South West.'
