The boss of Bristol Airport said he is confident it will quickly regain the passengers lost last year. Speaking at a meeting to discuss the airports expansion plans, chief executive Robert Sinclair said despite it being a challenging year, Bristol was in a better position than many other aiprorts in the UK.
Passenger numbers dropped 9.9% overall last year compared to 2008 and in December 2009 they were down by 1.5%. However, Mr Sinclair said: ‘The outlook for Bristol is much more positive than other UK airports. This fall compares to drops of 8.1% in passengers for Belfast in December, 23.6% for Cardiff, 8% for Exeter and 11.5% for Newcastle. I am confident we will claw back most of the loss in passengers in 2010.’
