Airport expects record summer

29.03.10

Bristol Airport expects a record number of passengers this summer. This weekend, the airport launched a collection of new services including the Isle of Man, Palma, Faro and Gdansk and Venice-Treviso as carriers began their summer season schedules, which also sees Continental Airlines revert to daily flights from Bristol to New York.

Passenger numbers were up by 14.2 percent in February, a second successive month of growth at the airport, and management forecasts suggest that summer 2010 could be the busiest in the airport's history.

Shaun Browne, Aviation Director at Bristol Airport, said: ‘The launch of these new routes is an encouraging sign. It demonstrates that airlines recognise the demand for air travel to and from the South West and Wales.'
