New buses for airport service
27.02.10
Bristol Airport will invest in 12 new buses for the Flyer service, which runs between the airport and Bristol Temple Meads railway station. Half a million passengers a year use the service, which runs every 15 minutes, ‘a significant achievement for a regional airport’ an airport spokesman said.
The new 12 Volvo buses will replace the 9 coaches currently operating the service. They are wheelchair accessible and passengers will be able to take their luggage on board with them, speeding up the boarding process and journey. The first 6 of the new buses, each costing £180,000, will come into service in the next few months, with the remaining 6 arriving next year.
Each bus will feature leather seats as well as free Wi-Fi access and power points to charge phones and laptops. An airport spokesman said: ‘The service continues to grow. It is particularly convenient for the increasing number of visitors arriving in the region by air, making onward journeys to Bristol and across the South West as simple and convenient as possible.’
