Airport expansion 'will help passengers and environment'
22.09.10
Bristol Airport has trupeted the benefits of its planned £150m expansion, which was given the go-ahead last week when the Secretary of state decided not to call in the planning application to develop the airport, already improved by North Sommerset council. Robin Sinclair, CEO of the airport, said the decision is a 'major step in the right direction'.
He said: 'Approval of these proposals recognises the airport's vital contribution to regional prosperity, while also ensuring environmental considerations are addressed. The plans provide a blueprint for the long-term development of Bristol Airport. They will allow us to provide more services, which will reduce car journeys to other airports, and also grow inbound tourism to the south-west.'
The plans include expanded more airport car parking, a larger terminal and an airport hotel.
