Passengers down 12.3%

20.12.08

Bristol Airport reported passengers down 12.3% in November compared to a year earlier. Domestic passengers were 14.0% lower, with international passengers down 9.5%, largely due to easyJet’s winter capacity cuts, which were partially offset by increased Ryanair capacity.

Charter passengers were 23.6% lower due to the loss of XL Airways in September 2008 and the effect of First Choice / TUI operating only one aircraft from Bristol, compared to two last year. In the 12 months to the end of November passengers were up 7.2% to 6.22 million, with domestic passengers down 8.1% (1.18 million) and charter passengers down 11.4% (1.2 million), but international passengers up 21.2% (3.85 million).
