Passengers up 2.6%
20.10.08
Bristol Airport has reported a 2.6% increase in passengers for September compared to a year earlier, with 601,587 passengers passing through the terminal. The airport said that the increase was due to additional low cost capacity.
Domestic passenger numbers continue to decline, down 4.9%, but international passengers increased by 20.8% as a result of the ongoing impact of the Ryanair base, opened last November, new easyJet routes and the introduction of Lufthansa flights in March 2008. Charter passengers were 23.2% lower than last year due to the loss of XL Airways and continued consolidation in the holiday flights industry.
In the year to the end of September passengers were up 8.6% to 6.27m. Domestic passengers were down 8% to 1.2m, international passengers up 22.7% to 3.8m and charter passengers down 8% to 1.24m.
