Passengers down 3.5 percent
20.08.09
Passengers at Bristol Airport were down 3.5 percent in July. Domestic passengers were 1.1 percent lower, primarily due to reduced flights from easyJet, partially offset by the new Ryanair service to Belfast.
International passengers increased by 2.4 percent, due to the launch of eleven new routes by Ryanair. Charter passengers were 20.1 percent down due to the ongoing impact of the loss of XL Airways and fewer ad-hoc charter flights. New charter operator Kiss Flights commenced services to Sharm el-Sheikh and Tenerife in early July.
In the year to the end of July passengers were down 9.2 percent on the previous 12 months to 5.6m. Domestic passengers were down 9.6 percent (1.1m), international passengers down 3.9 percent (3.5m) and charter passengers down 23.8 percent (1.0m).
