Passengers down 11.9%
20.07.09
Passengers at Bristol Airport were 11.9% lower last month than in 2008. Domestic traffic was 7.6% lower, primarily due to reduced flights from easyJet and Air Southwest. This was partially offset by the new Ryanair service to Belfast City.
International traffic was down 10.1%, predominantly due to reduced easyJet and Ryanair flight frequencies and the withdrawal of Lufthansa’s Frankfurt service. Charter traffic was 19.2% down as a result of the ongoing impact of the loss of XL Airways and a reduction in ad-hoc charter traffic.
In the 12 months to the end of June Bristol Airport had 5.7m passengers, down 8.3% on the previous 12 months. Domestic passengers were down 10.2% (1.1m), international passengers down 2.3% (3.5m) and charter passengers down 23% (1.0m).
