Passengers down 16.9%
20.06.09
Passengers were 16.9% lower at Bristol Airport last month than in the same month last year. The airport said that this was 'an improvement over the first quarter performance,' although it was worse than the previous month (down 14.4%).
Domestic passengers were 8.6% lower, due to reduced flights from easyJet and Air Southwest, partially offset by a new Ryanair service to Belfast. International passengers were down 15.7%, due to capacity cuts by easyJet and the withdrawal of Lufthansa’s Frankfurt service, and charter passengers were 26.4% down due to the ongoing impact of the loss of XL Airways and a reduction in ad-hoc charter traffic.
In the 12 months to the end of May passengers were down 6.6% (5.7m) with domestic passengers down 10.1% (1.1m), international passengers up 0.6% (3.6m) and charter passengers down 22.2% (1.1m).
