Passengers up 14.8 percent
20.06.08
Passengers were up 14.8 percent at Bristol Airport last month, due to additional low cost capacity. Domestic passengers were 6.9 percent lower due to reductions in load factors, but international passengers increased 29.6 percent, due to the opening of the new Ryanair base in November 2007, new easyJet routes and the introduction of Lufthansa in March 2008. Charter passengers were up 3.3 percent, with additional ad hoc charter flights for the Heineken Cup final which took place in May.
In the 12 months to the end of May passengers were up 8.4 percent to 6.1m. Domestic passengers were down 8.2 percent to 1.3m, international passengers up 19.5 percent at 3.5m and charter passengers up 0.5 percent at 1.3m. Ryanair launched two new routes - three times weekly flights to Bergerac and Pau - during the month.
