Passengers up 12.3%
20.05.08
Bristol Airport saw a 12.3% rise in passenger numbers in April, with international traffic up 25.8%, due to the opening of the new Ryanair base in November 2007 and new easyJet routes. However, domestic passengers were 8.4% lower than April 2007 due to reductions in load factors and charter passengers were down 4.2% as Easter fell in March this year.
easyJet launched 3 new routes from Bristol Airport in the month - to Biarritz in France, Olbia in Sardinia and Split in Croatia - taking the number of routes it operates from the airport to 39. Bristol also reached a landmark in passengers in April, with more than 6 million people having passed through the airport over the last 12 months, up 6.8% on the previous 12 month period.
