Passengers up 9.9%
20.03.08
Passengers at Bristol Airport were 9.9% higher in February at 434,000. Much of the increase was due to additional low cost capacity, particularly from budget airline Ryanair.
Domestic traffic was down 8.8% in the month to 93,000, due to the cessation of BA Connect’s services after Flybe took over the airline last March. International traffic increased 21.3% to 275,000, as a result of the opening of the new Ryanair base at the airport in November. Charter traffic was 0.5% lower at 65,000.
In the year to the end of February the airport had 5,940,000 passengers, up 5.6% on the previous 12 months. Domestic passengers were down 8.4%, international passengers up 14.2% and charter passengers down 0.2%.
