Dreamliner could bring Hawaii flights to Bristol

Thomson and First Choice could offer package holidays from airports such as Bristol direct to Honolulu once they receive the Boeing 787 Dreamliners they have ordered, TTG Live reports. Thomson Airways managing director Chris Browne said the route is one of those that could take off when its revolutionary new planes are deployed at regional UK airports. He told TTG they intend to operate Dreamliners from Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands and Glasgow airports.
The arrival of the aircraft, the star at the Farnborough Air Show this week, will massively expand TUI's options for long-haul leisure destinations. The Dreamliner’s 8500 nautical mile range will allow it to offer direct flights to destinations such as Hawaii and Phuket, which Thomson has so far been unable to fly to from the UK.
Mr Browne said recent research by the company revealled 43% of those questioned picked Hawaii as the top destination they would want from their local airport. Other destinations likely to be added to the Thomson and First Choice programmes include Costa Rica and Brazil in central and south America, as well as routes to Asia and Africa.
He also revealed that the Dreamliner would open up a market for 7 day long-haul packages because of its potential to reduce jet lag. Boeing believes the aircraft will massively reduce the physical impact of flying because the air supply will be more humid and will mean passengers are less dehydrated. The lighting can also be set to mimic the sunset and sunrise times of the destination.
