Passengers up 6.7% in June
19.07.08
Bristol Airport passenger numbers for June were 6.7% higher than 2007, as a result of additional low cost capacity. Domestic passengers were 7.0% lower than last year, due to reductions in load factors, but international passengers increased 24.3%, as a result of the opening of a new Ryanair base last November, new easyJet routes and the introduction of flights by Lufthansa this March. Charter traffic was 13.5% lower due to continued consolidation - and capacity reduction - in the package holiday industry.
In the 12 months to the end of June passengers were up 8.6% on a year earlier to 5.675m. Domestic passengers were 8.3% lower at 1.33m whilst charter passengers were down 1.3% to 1.35m. International passengers were up 20.6% to 2.99m, and now account for 53% of total passengers at the hub.
