Planners recommend approval of expansion plans
19.05.10
Plans to expand Bristol Airport have been recommended for approval by North Somerset Council planning officers. The council's south area committee voted 6 to 3 to support the £150m scheme but referred the final decision to the planning and regulatory committee, which will consider the application next Monday.
A planning officers report to be submitted to this meeting includes over 60 conditions on granting permission, including a limit on night flights. Other conditions in the 260-page document are a contribution of over £5m for local transport improvements and a 10 million annual passenger cap.
Any approval of the plans will need to be referred to the secretary of state for communities and local government because there is an element of development in the green belt. This is an expansion to the airport parking.
