Passengers up 12.1%
19.04.08
Passengers were up by 12.1% at Bristol Airport last month to 503,449, with an increase in low cost and charter capacity boosted by the early Easter.
Domestic passengers were down 11.3% (to 99,000), still seeing the affect of the end of BA Connect services last year, but international passengers increased by 24.4% (to 325,000), as a result of the opening of the new Ryanair base at the airport in November 2007. Charter passengers were also up 3.9% (to 79,000), due to additional capacity over the Easter period.
In 12 months to the end of March there were 1.25m domestic passengers, down 8.6%, 3.4m international passengers, up 15.3%, and 1.36m charter passengers, down 0.2%. In total there were 5.995m passengers, up 5.8%, with every prospect of the airport breaking the 6m mark next month.
