Passengers up 5.3% in May
17.06.10
Flight disruption caused by the volcanic ash cloud failed to halt the growth in passenger numbers at Bristol Airport last month. They increased by 5.3% to more than 500,000 compared to the same month last year, meaning the airport reported increases every month since the start of the year.
International travel accounted for the bulk of last month’s increase, up by almost 10% on May 2009. Airport aviation director Shaun Browne said: ‘Demand for both business and leisure travel remains strong, despite the disruption caused by the Icelandic volcano. This continued growth underlines the need to develop and enhance facilities for passengers.’
