Ryanair celebrate 6 millionth Bristol passenger
17.03.11
Ryanair carried its 6 millionth passenger from Bristol Airport this week. Keely Jarvis from Aberdare, was the lucky 6 millionth passenger when she landed at the airport on a flight from Dublin. She was presented with a bottle of champagne and a pair of return tickets to Valencia with the budget airline from Bristol.
Starting with one route in 1997, Ryanair now has 5 aircraft based at Bristol Airport, serving 29 destinations this summer, including new flights to Ibiza from the end of March. Other popular routes include Venice, Beziers, Malta and Marrakesh.
Bristol Airport director Shaun Browne said: ’When you consider that the number of passengers carried by Ryanair since it started operations from Bristol Airport is around 14 times the population of the city, it is clear how big an impact it has had on our travel habits. For many people, destinations that were previously out of reach are now accessible for business, holidays or visiting friends and family.’
