A man who terrified passengers on a flight to Bristol Airport after drinking a bottle of vodka has been jailed for 12 weeks, Avon & Somerset Police announced today. Frank Tobin, 47, was returning from Sharm El Sheikh, in Egypt, to Bristol in December when he drank the vodka in a toilet and began abusing staff.
North Somerset Magistrates' Court heard that police were alerted by the flight crew that a man was drunk on the aircraft. He was being abusive towards the airline staff and swearing.
Officers were waiting for the plane when it arrived and arrested the Mr Tobin. He was charged the following day with drunkenness on an aircraft and was sentenced to a 12-week jail term when he appeared in court a fortnight ago.
