Free parking time limit causing local traffic congestion
09.08.10
Restricted free waiting time at Bristol Airport's drop off zone is causing lay-bys and roads near the hub to be filled with cars, the Weston Mercury reports. Drivers using the airports pick up and drop off area cannot return within 15 minutes once they have used their 10 minute free period, and must pay £4 for waiting longer than 10 minutes.
Airport bosses say the no-return restrictions are there to stop cars causing congestion by circulating around the site. However, Councillor Michael Berkley said: ‘The problem is that there are people parking around the perimeter of the airport waiting for their 15 minutes to be up, before returning.'
