Airport support group cleans up
07.09.08
Members of the Bristol International Supporters Group (BISON) joined together to help promote safety and tidiness at the viewing area of Bristol Airport. Members of the group tided up the location, which was overgrown with stinging nettles, brambles, shrubbery and litter, with the place looking transformed after work had been finished.
A spokesman for the group said: ‘We hope that by tidying up the viewing area, and placing information signs about litter, it will be much tidier in the future, and that the public will have a much safer time’.
‘Operation Cleanup was set up after we were told that the council could not find anything wrong with the area, which was overrun with litter and brambles, and that they would not do anything about the issue’.
The BISON group started in April to support the expansion and operations of the airport. Its activities are aimed at aviation enthusiasts, airport staff and the general travelling public, who want a better travel facility, and gateway to the South West.
