A middle-aged fan of Irish rugby club Munster flying in for the Heineken Cup quarter-final against Gloucester was arrested at Bristol Airport yesterday after he allegedly urinated in the aisle of the plane of a flight to the hub.
The chartered flight from Shannon to Bristol, which was full with Munster supporters, was due to depart at 14:00, but was delayed for 3 hours due to technical difficulties. It is understood that after it finally did take off just before 17:00, the man needed to go to the toilet, but his path was blocked by an air steward’s trolley.
Passengers reported that when the man could not get to the toilet, he urinated in the aisle. The man was approached and admonished by flight crew and the captain was informed. He radioed ahead to Bristol Airport to report what had happened.
When the plane arrived at Bristol Airport shortly before 18:00, passengers were asked to remain in their seats. Police came on board and escorted the man from the plane.
It is understood the man is a regular supporter of the Munster. Bristol Airport police confirmed he had been arrested but would not give details of the charges or whether he would be released in time for the game.
