Transport links 'amongst worst in UK'
06.02.10
The quality of public transport links at Bristol Airport has been criticised in a new report. Campaign group Railfuture carried out research at UK airports to assess their rail, bus and coach links and the information provided to passengers about transport options.
The report identified a huge variation in the quality of public transport links to UK airports, and said that Bristol Airport is amongst the worst, scoring 8 out of a possible 30 points in the survey. It is behind Gatwick, Newcastle and even smaller airports such as Southend.
However, managers at Bristol Airport rejected the findings, saying they only score badly because they do not have a train link. They say a rail link to Bristol City Centre is not a realistic option and they are focusing instead on increasing the frequency of a coach service that runs every 15 minutes from the airport into the city, making several stops on the way.
