Airport trolley charges double
05.07.10
The cost of hiring a baggage trolley has doubled at some British airports, and is set to do so at a number of others. Passengers flying in or out of Luton and Bristol airports have been hit by soaring trolley hire charges, with the price rising from £1 to £2 last Thursday. The cost, which kicks in just as busy summer holiday season gets going, is non-refundable.
Airport trolley operator Bagport said the price rise would enable it to provide a quality service after a recent declines in passenger numbers at UK airports. The new charge will also hit Cardiff Airport in the coming weeks and will be rolled out across a number of other airports later this year. Travellers with foreign currency can pay slightly less, as the equivalent charge in euros remains at €2 (£1.65).
