Airport hopeful wind turbine will be approved
02.09.08
A 65 foot wind turbine is planned at Bristol Airport to help provide the hub with a clean energy supply and lower its carbon footprint. The height would mean the turbine would be below the airport's light columns, while the noise often associated with wind farms would be unnoticeable against its noise background.
Wind turbines have proved controversial because of their impact on local scenery, and they are also known to have an impact on airport radar systems. However, Bristol Airport is hoping that North Somerset Council will grant permission for the structure.
A spokesman for the airport said: ‘The size we are looking at is not huge. We believe it should not cause too many problems. Hopefully we can get the decision soon.’
